That time again

You'll be pleased to know that I'm getting some new reading glasses. At least you should be as my highest and most frequently read post on this blog of mine is this one with 2,134 pageviews! Following that post was a massive post on my very important and super interesting decision making at the holy grail, Specsavers.

In case you're wondering I chose a pair from the Gok Wan range as they were the most modern designs there. They look like this and I still love them to this day:

GOK WAN 12 glasses

So yes lets go on another adventure in search for perfect eye wear, from Specsavers! Meanwhile...

It was so misty this morning I had to take a photo of it on my Canon although it looks a lot like something instagram churns out. How I love the bottom left graffiti.

A little update on project boy zine. Theres a second issue launching whenever it's finished, which will be whenever. It's bohemian, deal with it. No it's going to be great, I hope you all enjoy viewing it. Speaking of boys vibe, feel free to submit image or text (pretty much anything you feel) you can email me on sammeh--@hotmail.com.

Back to the vision...

Not going to lie, I think I'm sticking with Gok. I'm feeling cat-eye.

GOK WAN 11 glasses
One thing I love about my current glasses is the colour, the only thing new about this design is the eye shape,  cat-eye, meowww.

S RED OR DEAD 79 glasses
I'm stuck for choice! These are by Red or Dead.

If this is the vibe they give off then I'm sold.

I've made the decision and cat-eye is my next venture. Here are some of the other lenses I really liked also by Gok Wan:

GOK WAN 55 glasses
These have a slightly wider lens, still cat like but not enough for me.

GOK WAN 54 glasses
Unfortunately hipsters all over the world have ruined this style of lens for me.

stuff #1

This is my favourite piece in the Myths Rankin and Damien Hirst exhibition at Rankin Annroy. Its weird to think Rankin is only down the road from me in Kentish Town, I kept peeping round the door everytime there was a flash. In primary school I had to sing in an assembly, dressed as Medusa. The headpeice was paper snakes, good times.

The Boy George hologram is by Edwina Orr and David Trayner. It was so amazing to look at, so life like. It was my favourite piece in the whole Postmodernism exhibition at the V&A. I really like his expression, whatever it may be. I also like the tvs with Neneh Cherry and Visage (I think it was Fade To Grey) kicking myself now for not braving the mud and going to see Neneh at Glastonbury 2011! Check out my blogpost on Neneh Cherry and House of Holland here.

I've been catching up on Noel Fieldings Luxury Comedy via Youtube, usually late at night, I find it entices vivid dreams. I've noticed on Facebook/twitter, some people are utterly confused by it and find it non-funny despite it being 'Comedy'. I think this is a case of tunnel vision. The program combines music, artist references, live art, performance art, and lots of other things that sound pretentious but are actually really good. I look forward to each episode, each of which are getting better and better. I'm not sure who my favourite characters are but I tweet about it all the time! All thats missing is Jazz but that was Julian Barratt, who I sat opposite on the tube, what a man.

Speaking of tube spotting, I 'had' to sit next to this beaut, Jamie Campbell Bower, on my way to university. Not a bad way to start a day.

Term 2

So I've survived my first week back at uni and its actually been really good. Getting used to the tube in the morning, the mad dash walk and seeing 7am was a little difficult, I really felt it by the end of the week. This term we're studying cultural studies so its something different and I'm looking forward to learning more about it.

In Shepherds Bush, sheppyb. The only thing, Noels face, that gets me through the morning tube and sheppyb in general.
We're going to be studying the feminism movements which I'm so excited about! There's lots of reading material to get through which will make for a nice change/ valid excuse for my anti-social tendencies.

A late night trek to M&M World was a perfect way of celebrating the end of week (it's open till midnight!) and an article written for one of my favourite websites (link soon) I'm happy its the weekend.

I've been  really focused on making my room and flat really cosy so I've stuck lots of photos and things to make it all nice.

Rachael had done this so we know whos in and whos out of our flat.
I also suggested we move the furniture around in the flat to make it more habitable so we can all sit together :-) We've stuck fairy lights and our fave glossy ads up on the wall, our pin board is yet to be decorated in its entirety.

One of our fridges, guess which magnets mine, its not the Ann Summers one thats Rachaels, who works at Ann Summers.
Other than meeting the halls mouse this morning (disgusting) we spoke to plantman, across the courtyard from our windows. We've been waving at him all last term. Hes nice and his dads from Manchester, I also guessed right that he was studying Physics without any hint from his room or bedroom habits, which is so freaky but I'm feeling well smug about getting it right.

My desk last term, the post it note madness. Its much more colourful and homely now :-)
Noel Gallagher and Peter Saville in a Face magazine feature on my wall, replacing what was the first term post it note madness. Peter actually very kindly rang me up and told me about one of his pieces I was writing about for one my my essays last term which is why his face is stuck on my wall, I'm not saying any more because I'm still in shock/awe.
This is a task in the 2nd term to take 10 photos of a familiar surrounding in a way you haven't looked at it before.
A snow globe I got for my Christmas secret Santa!

Heres some room/house inspiration taken from Oyster magazine.com. These are photos from inside Courtney Loves home, photos were taken for Janexo.

Feeling a little sick from the M&Ms.

Real blog post soon.

The day I always knew would come.

The day I met Noel Fielding was a warm day in London. Apart from heading to all 2 other hmv stores on Oxford St, trying to break into Selfridges and then finally stalking a blonde bobbing head boy in hope he to was on his way to obtain the awaiting wristbands and actually headed to the correct hmv store.

The Scribblings Of A Madcap Shambleton is a lovely new book of Noels art he and Dave Brown created together. It's a beautiful book. Featuring dashing images Tania Wade, Hooligan Art Dealer, owner of Maison Bertaux the oldest patisserie in London, a must go for tea and cakes. Mmm.

Although meeting my dream man and Davey boy I was pretty disappointed with the treatment I endured just to see these pretty faces. You could say all was forgiven with Noels sparkly green jumper (I need that jumper) but the brandishing bouncers, lack of organisation (of hmv) and communication (also hmv) was one that made me dislike hmv and their money grabbing ways a little bit more. As if they're not making enough money compared to places like Vinyl Exchange, where buying music was an adventure, not strategically subversive cons.

Psychedelic Dreams of the Jelly Fox was Noels sole art exhibit at Maison Bertaux which is featured in the book. You can read about my travels to the exhibit in a past post: here.

Whatever. Bouncers aside it was really nice to meet these two finally. I always said I would meet Noel. Would of loved a chat and a photo and a peck on the cheek (to far?) but what can you do.

In honour of hmv: NO PHOTOS

LCF BA Catwalk show

We've had the London College of Fashion 2011 MAs it's now time for the BA's with less than an hour till showtime. With models hand picked from the streets and talent blossoming from LCFs walls we're all waiting to see the designers ideas, efforts and creations come to life. At half 6 tune into the LCF website to catch the live viewing!

I love to look at the designers profiles before the shows and pick my favourites.

Angela Brandys designs are eye catching, textural and playful. Perhaps the ultimate definition or eclectic but somehow still elegant. I love these pieces. Especially the lilac coat, not to mention the models hair!

From an influence of sea creatures Yeashin Kim has contrasted vibrant psychedelic colours, only Christopher Kane seemed to execute perfectly until now, with muted coral and seaweed tones. But it works, flawlessly. I really like the simple side pony. Dare I say it Jessie J? In the nicest, most fashionable way.

Rexy Sung Fall RTW 2011
To me Ya-Chiao Rexy Sung did it for me the moment I saw that bag.You wouldn't believe the beautiful details are made up of safety pins and nails from the pavement. Rexy Sung Fall RTW 2011

I'm in love with these pants. I don't like to over use the word wearable, but these actually are. I love the palate the fabrics and the gold embellishments. It's so city chic it makes me want to go out and get a business job just so I can look absolutely fabulous holding my coffee. Though coffee can stay away from these outfits, and will have to actually get a job first.

I'm a sucker for a collar and these are lite enough to button up and pointy enough to take your eye out without an over use of the iron half an hour before you leave.

Rexy Sung Fall RTW 2011

The embellished top is far from fussy, it's warrior women with minimal effort. Plus I've not yet seen a clutch I like that's boxy, beautiful and bold, I have now.

Good luck all and have a fantastic night!
